Use our calculator to figure out how much sod you need. Break your yard down into rectangles, circles, and triangles, and the calculator will total the square footage for you. You can also subtract pools, patios, and driveways.
Use the calculator and enter rough estimates - you can always adjust. If you're really not sure, break the area into rectangles, circles, or triangles and measure each one with a tape measure.
Reply to your confirmation email or call the farm on your order. Changes are easier if made before 3 PM the day before delivery.

Yes — the volume tiers drop sharply for big orders. Past 7,000 sq ft, you’re in our lowest rate. For contractor-scale recurring orders, get in touch for custom terms.
Lay sod within 6 to 12 hours of delivery. Sooner is better in warm weather; stacked rolls heat up fast and can stress the grass before it's in the ground.
Yes — till the soil 4 to 6 inches deep, level and rake smooth. Remove old grass, weeds, and debris. If your soil is poor, top-dress with a few inches of triple-mix or fresh topsoil before laying.
We don’t offer installation ourselves, but we can recommend local landscapers if you call your local farm. Our Care Guide covers the install step-by-step if you’re doing it yourself.
Spring and early fall are ideal. Summer works but needs more watering. We don’t recommend laying sod on frozen or snow-covered ground — wait for thaw.
Water your lawn within 15 minutes of laying the first roll. Not after the job is done. Water is the single most important thing for new sod.
For large areas, use a sprinkler to get an even inch of water across the whole lawn. Measure by placing a cup or empty tin can on the grass - when it holds an inch of water, you've watered enough.
Pay extra attention to edges along concrete or asphalt; those edges dry out faster than the rest of the lawn.
Mow 7 days after install. Mow perpendicular to the direction the rolls were laid. Never take more than 1/3 of the leaf blade off in one mowing. Use sharp mower blades; dull blades tear rather than cut and stress new grass.
