Ordering

How do I know how much sod to order?

Use our calculator to figure out how much sod you need. Break your yard down into rectangles, circles, and triangles, and the calculator will total the square footage for you. You can also subtract pools, patios, and driveways.

What if I don’t know my exact square footage?

Use the calculator and enter rough estimates - you can always adjust. If you're really not sure, break the area into rectangles, circles, or triangles and measure each one with a tape measure.

What if I need to change my order after it’s placed?

Reply to your confirmation email or call the farm on your order. Changes are easier if made before 3 PM the day before delivery.

Do you sell to contractors / landscapers?

Yes — larger volume tiers kick in automatically for bigger orders. For recurring orders, net-30 terms, or dedicated delivery windows, use the contact form and choose “Large order / contractor enquiry.”

Delivery

When do you deliver?

Delivery days vary by zone and by season. Some areas deliver Monday through Saturday; some have different schedules entirely.

Your available dates load once you enter your postal or zip on the homepage.

How fresh is the sod?

We cut your order fresh for you at the closest farm to your address.

Is delivery included?

In most service areas, yes — delivery is built into the price shown. A few remote zones add a small delivery charge, which is shown clearly on the order summary before checkout.

Does someone need to be home?

No - we can drop the sod without anyone there, as long as the instructions are clear.

Pricing

Why does the price change?

Volume pricing — the more you order, the less per square foot. Rates also vary by zone. Your live rate card shows after you enter your postal or zip.

What’s included in the price?

Delivery is included in most service areas; a few remote zones add a delivery charge that's shown clearly before checkout. The calculator and shop page show exactly what you'll pay before tax. Applicable sales tax is added at checkout based on your delivery zone.

Do you offer discounts for large orders?

Yes — the volume tiers drop sharply for big orders. Past 7,000 sq ft, you’re in our lowest rate. For contractor-scale recurring orders, get in touch for custom terms.

Installation

When should I start laying the sod?

Lay sod within 6 to 12 hours of delivery. Sooner is better in warm weather; stacked rolls heat up fast and can stress the grass before it's in the ground.

Do I need to prep the ground first?

Yes — till the soil 4 to 6 inches deep, level and rake smooth. Remove old grass, weeds, and debris. If your soil is poor, top-dress with a few inches of triple-mix or fresh topsoil before laying.

Do you install the sod for me?

We don’t offer installation ourselves, but we can recommend local landscapers if you call your local farm. Our Care Guide covers the install step-by-step if you’re doing it yourself.

Can I lay sod in the fall / winter / spring?

Spring and early fall are ideal. Summer works but needs more watering. We don’t recommend laying sod on frozen or snow-covered ground — wait for thaw.

Care & Watering

When should I water?

Water your lawn within 15 minutes of laying the first roll. Not after the job is done. Water is the single most important thing for new sod.

For large areas, use a sprinkler to get an even inch of water across the whole lawn. Measure by placing a cup or empty tin can on the grass - when it holds an inch of water, you've watered enough.

Pay extra attention to edges along concrete or asphalt; those edges dry out faster than the rest of the lawn.

When can I first mow?

Mow 7 days after install. Mow perpendicular to the direction the rolls were laid. Never take more than 1/3 of the leaf blade off in one mowing. Use sharp mower blades; dull blades tear rather than cut and stress new grass.

Accounts & Payment

When does my card get charged?

Your card is charged at checkout.
